our vision

our mission

prompted by the teachings of the Catholic church, UCS provides an all-rounded education to each individual, to develop self-aware persons who live their faith in action.

ABOUT URAFIKI CAROVANA SCHOOL

Urafiki Carovana School (UCS) was born in 2005 from a small Kindergarten (Emanuela Mazzola Kindergarten) in Saint Joseph Catholic Church – Kahawa Sukari. This was a tentative answer of the Parish Priest, fr. Alfonso Poppi, to the needs of the parishioners who were looking for a Catholic Institution for their children’s education. In 2008, due to the continuous expansion of the admissions numbers, the School needed to move from the Parish into a more spacious compound where it is currently hosted

In the beginning, the School hosted less than 10 children with one teacher. Today, it boasts more than 500 children, 30 teachers, and 20 support staff members.

Following the directives of the Ministry of Education, in January 2023 the School opened its doors to the first batch of Junior Secondary School students.

catholic culture

Our school has a strong Catholic background, which we want to nurture and propose to the learners. We teach Catholic prayers, we celebrate Catholic Masses every week and at the beginning/end of each term; attendance is compulsory for both children and adults, although there is no intention to convert people to Catholicism. Nonetheless, we firmly believe that the root of a deep change in any society is the awareness that God is a Father who loves each person, therefore we deem it vital for the success of our school to be a place where the knowledge of God is cultivated as the main subject.

We have Catholic priests and Nuns to take care of the spiritual growth of children, teachers, and families.  Priests are available for spiritual guidance and confessions.  Once per year, the school will have spiritual retreats to focus on God, the only reason for our values.

SCHOOL PROFILE

Our Values

i. Faith

We believe that God is a merciful Father, who loves and gives life to everyone. Our children learn that they are loved and wanted.

ii. Hope

With the strength of God and the work of our hands, we strive to work for eternal life as our happiness, making children aware that they are destined to do great things.

iii. Charity

At UCS we welcome everyone, irrespective of their background. We are convinced that every person has a place in the world that is God-given. For this reason, we nurture the inclusivity of learners with disabilities, and we create a community of learners and adults who love and respect each other.

CHARACTER FORMATION PROGRAM

We develop the character of each child through a system of rewards and discipline based on our core values. Our guiding principles are the good of the student, freely created and loved by God, and the good of our Institution.
