ETHICS AND SCHOOL CULTURE

Parenting course

This year we were able to run a full parenting course for all levels. Parents were grouped according to their children’s level: lower, upper and junior school. Parenting styles, early childhood development, understanding your pre-teen, adolescence, family values, technology, communication, freedom and guidance are some of the topics discussed. We had the opportunity to interact with different facilitators who led the discussion and brought in quality content.

Boy-Child Day Camp

During the April holidays this year we organised a camp for the boys and their fathers/guardians. On this day we had structured talks which were divided into three groups: adults only, Grade 6-8 and 3-5 students. Later we had outdoor activity games during the second session together. It was a very interactive and enjoyable bonding moment. We are planning a similar event in November and therefore encourage 100% participation from Grades 1-8.

Mothers and daughters’ day

On the 3rd of August we had a mother and daughters’ day. It was indeed a colorful and happy day! We started with Mass and later had different sections for the mothers and for the daughters where we danced and played together. It is noticeable that some parents, together with the teachers, gave their availability to help organise this beautiful day.

Boys and girls talk

This year we had boys’ and girls’ talks for all the students from grade 4 to 8. Girls and boys met separately and discussed various topics. Each class had one session per term. The students were very open, active, willing to share, sincere and asked many questions.

Mentorship program

From grade 6 to grade 8, each student was given a personal mentor who monitors their development and looks after their physical, emotional, spiritual and academic growth.

Character formation program

The character formation program has been implemented at all levels. The aim is to help our children understand that they are responsible for their actions and that their choices have positive or negative consequences. The cardinal virtues (prudence, temperance, justice and fortitude) are the guiding reference by which each action is judged. Each class has a chart showing the progress and virtues achieved by each student. Every fortnight, the students are rewarded with a badge if they gain enough points. There are also class rewards to encourage unity and helping each other to achieve a positive goal. Each class also has a table of offences to guide them in correcting inappropriate behaviour.
